Just give it a try by reading other reviews. It's soft metal and the end (used to raise and lower the tire) REALLY rounds off if you're not careful. I was able to lower the wheel and raise it back to full height. However, I had to reshape the end several times to get it to grip properly. To be honest my 2012 GMC Sierra 1500 work truck is now 8 years old and having bought it used I have no idea if the part was ever lowered. Perhaps the mechanism is a bit rusted and with a little care (or possible replacement) it can move without resistance and reduce rounding. All of this is to say that it would be nice to have a tip made out of a MUCH stronger metal. GMC/Chevy sells one for twice the price BUT it looks just like this one. I don't know if it works better. If so, it would definitely be worth the extra money.
