Review on Bell Motivator Magnetic Resistance Trainer by Matthew Miles

Revainrating 4 out of 5

75 decibels at 3 feet - loud as a garbage chute

This trainer didn't fit in my living space. I bought it based on the price and other reviews. I've had three coaches over the years. This is the lowest rating of all. The roll holder consists of two plastic parts. The pressure on the tire roll causes the two-piece plastic holder to bend. a horizontal metal drive rod is then conically pressed into vertical roller bearings pressed into a plastic support. This unnatural pressure destroyed the factory bearings after a week. At one point it was so loud (around 85dB) that my neighbors came and complained (I had headphones). Video filmed with factory bearings. (New bearings (9mm, 10mm ID, 30mm OD from amazon.com) helped, but they're still noisy. 70dB.) The plastic reel mount is just bad design. Due to the living conditions in my apartment, I will no longer be able to use this product. Looks like I'll have to find another trainer that costs an additional $89. The video doesn't carry the sound very well, and I didn't tighten the reel to maximum resistance. The decibel meter averages 75 decibels at 3 feet. I wrote this review and made a video so the next buyer can make an informed decision. If you have a lot of space and don't care about noise, a treadmill will do.
