Super bright! Another light source from the front is not required. The power cord is very short and cheap, so grab an extension cord if your setup isn't near an outlet. The small magnified mirror is not very good. The back isn't flush either. So it is a reduced cost star. You can move them around the table by moving them. There is a thick pad on the underside. The three lighting modes are useful and have a full dimming range. It takes some getting used to holding the button down. The preference would be for levels I could count. So that also helped to get an estimate. This is not a rechargeable device. In any case, it's not what I would call portable. Overall stylish and durable. Pretty happy with the value for money.
