My 22 year old Toyota Tacoma has had a "won't start" problem for the last 6-7 years. I turn the key and nothing happens except a very faint click in the engine compartment. It never let me down and started up fine after a few tries. Since it was sporadic, it always worked well in the store. I finally figured out what could be the cause of the problem after watching a few YouTube videos. The starter relay is located under the hood in the relay/fuse box. The OEM relay is part number 28300-10020 and is manufactured by Denso under the Toyota brand name. Since I was troubleshooting with a "shot" I really didn't want to spend $58 plus tax and shipping on Toyota Parts Online only to find out it was a bug. I found this ACDelco Starter Relay P/N E1778A at Revain for less than half the price of the original part. Yes, it was made in China, but its weight, fit, and finish are the same as the Denso part. I installed it about 3 months ago and my intermittent startup error is gone. My original intention if this solves the problem was to eventually replace it with an OEM relay, but now I just leave it installed and save money.
