Review on Satin Nickel Door Reinforcement Kit with Deadbolt πŸ”’ Strike Plate, Anti-Kick Guard, and TUFF STRIKE for Enhanced Security by Amir Tune

Great idea, terrible execution.

Advantages: Good idea, nice look. Disadvantages: The steel of the striking plate is very soft and can be bent with one hand. This can't be a problem as the force of the intrusion attempt will cut 90 degrees across the width, which maybe should be much stronger? - The supplied template is unusable. It doesn't match screw holes or pins, and the cardboard it's printed on doesn't cut cleanly, and the cut edges are very torn. The metal finish is very crappy. The exposed portion of the firing pin appears to be unplated satin nickel material, but the rest is very poorly plated. The two large poles are not exactly welded. One of the racks is welded a little closer to the striker's bolt hole. This makes a useless template even more useless. The strength of the welds is unknown, but they don't look very good. The build up of weld material around where the pins attach to the panel makes it difficult to drill a tight fitting groove accurately. You will need to cut or chisel the extra area around the attachment points. The two wood screws that come with it aren't very strong and the material they're made of looks just as crappy. I replaced them with much stronger wood screws that come with the Schlage latch. If the welding fails on this thing, the only thing holding the mess to the door frame are the wood screws. Suggestions for the maker: Include an accurate template on some other card stock, attach the stands in a precisely symmetrical location with heavy duty bolts instead of welds (which makes chiseling or milling much easier and more accurate), use better steel, the not is soft and does not require coating and use heavier wood screws.
