in a nicely controlled way

Let me possibly spare you some heartache. When you load this for the first time it will need to be primed which means the top fill screw will PARTIALLY open. Regardless, if it stubbornly refuses to refuel, DO NOT REMOVE THIS SCREW COMPLETELY. Not at all, although one cannot imagine what a catastrophe could have been prevented. When pouring out, the piston that pumps the lubricant may briefly get caught on the edge of the cardboard tube. This may result in you unscrewing the drain plug a little further. DO NOT DO THAT. Simply re-cock the T-handle and wiggle it back and forth a bit, see if you can feel the plunger disc loosen when it's really hanging off the rim of the pipe. When this happens, the spring pushes the piston disc against the grease, and then the grease oozes out of the bleed screw in a controlled manner because you were CLEVER ENOUGH NOT TO UNLOCK IT COMPLETELY. Hm. Just close it and enjoy your very well working grease gun. I would give it 5 stars for construction, functionality and overall quality if it were a little more reliable when charging.
