I have a 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 with a Cummins 6.7L engine. I wish I had rebuilt these rivets years ago, but I didn't. The head gasket failed at about 98,000 miles. I hired a mobile diesel engine technician to come to my house and help me change the gasket and install the studs. As a result, I also changed the valves, so the top part of the engine is like new. There was a lot of work! This mechanic torqued the nuts to 135 ft-lbs, which is 10 ft-lbs higher than what Cummins had at the factory. He says it's a tried and true method that many mechanics use. For those replacing a blown head gasket, Cummins manufactures a top of engine gasket kit that includes all the necessary gaskets.
