Review on πŸ‘€ Enhance Your Viewing Experience with the ViewSonic 3D HD Video Processor (VP3D1) by Gerardo Cibrian

VP3D1 brings the magic of 3D!

VP3D1 works as advertised for 3D Blu-ray. The experience is the same or better than the theater depending on your setup. The main reason for this is that YOU are in control of the recruitment. Your projector, your screen and your surroundings. However, as you approach the end of a light bulb's life, you may not have as much experience. I think with the PGD-250 glasses the experience was almost perfect for me. I loved it. I'm testing two movies: Bolt 3D (2008?) and Tangled 3D (2010). I can say without a doubt that Tangled 3D was ten times better than Bolt. Basically, Tangled looked PERFECT for all objects, both near and far. The bolt was pretty good up close, and terrible were the background elements, which were either phantom or misaligned (don't know the difference). Based on the setting, it probably wasn't a halo since Tangled didn't have any haloes at all. I think Bolt was one of the first few digital 3D films, and they may not have used the technology as much as they did for 2010's Rapunzel: Tangled. I found the brightness to be good, but obviously not blinding like regular 2D movies. I have a PJD6531w projector with 3200 lumens. Needless to say, Eco mode is very bright in 2D. The contrast was very good and blacks become very black with glasses. Buy now, you won't regret it. PS I had a slight headache for the first 5 minutes, but it quickly went away. No problem anymore. UPDATE 7/29/2011: I've seen about 5 movies in total and can say it's been a fantastic experience. I honestly think that with the right setup it could be a lot more enjoyable than the local cinema. Here's the problem: access to cheap content. I don't have VUDU on my Sony BDPS-570 BluRay player and the PSN network that contains movies cannot be played on this Sony device (super dumb!). I heard it works great on PS3. Now I have 4 glasses, all PGD-250. Works great, hasn't been charged in 2 months. Great facility, just want to rent some 3D movies! UPDATE 2 January 20, 2012: I have up to 10 movies. Fat 3D was ok. What I didn't notice is that sometimes the timing between the projector and the glasses is sometimes reversed. You need to go into the projector settings and turn invert on or off. You need to do this about 50% of the time. In movies, it doesn't matter. The PGD-250 goggle has developed a crack down the middle, but so far it's not a problem. I like 3D but I just wish there were more movies and more reasonable prices. Example of the same movie: regular DVD on ebay $5 Blu Ray $9 Blu Ray 3D $30. The? Same physical medium as regular Bluray, but three times more expensive? Rip off. My guess is that they just don't have the volume of regular Blu-rays to be in the $10 range where they should be. The Sony BDP-S570 now features PlayStation Network streaming (Virocity?). They have about 16 movies, but they make new ones for $7.50. A sip. It's too rich for my blood. Hopefully there will be cheaper alternatives soon.
