I live in a 1958 cape and have a really cool front door but the lock just won't go through. I bought this as a backup to make sure my door is locked. Perfect size, good quality, easy installation and great price. Here are some installation tips. Decide roughly where you want to mount the lock and take the small side piece, press it against the frame, make two circles with a marker or pencil, pre-drill the holes and then screw them in place with the screws provided. Then take the larger piece and slide the screw so it goes through the piece already installed to hold it in place. Use a marker or pencil to mark where you will make the first hole. I chose the top left position for the screw. Once you've installed a screw, it's much easier to pre-drill freehand again and then use the included screws to install. I am satisfied that this lock will keep the door closed unless someone actually closes it.
