I decided to pay a few dollars more and buy a solid 2" drop bumper receiver adapter for my 4x4" RV bumper. I hooked up the trunk, added three 60-pound suitcases, and secured the two extra points with bumper straps. I had driven about 12 miles and was about to hit the interstate when, to my surprise, sparks erupted in my rearview mirror. Sparks flew from a trailing truck. The flange bent and the heads of two bolts sheared off, causing the beam to touch the road. The only thing preventing the wearer from completely separating was the angle. The specified carrying capacity is not even approximate. Remember to include your carrier's weight in the calculation.
