Review on πŸ”‘ Horande Keyless Entry Folding Flip Key Fob Cover Case for Kia Optima Sorento Sportage Rio Soul Forte Carens Picanto (1) - Replacement Key Shell by Ricky Habbani

Revainrating 3 out of 5

It worked fine once I figured out how to open it without breaking it.

Item arrived quickly (as advertised) and as described. It looked and felt exactly like my son's original key fob for my son's 2015 Kia Soul, except this one has a nice chrome insert on the side opposite the key slot where the original had a black plastic insert. It appears to be of good build quality and materials. NO INSTRUCTIONS WERE INCLUDED. I've tried to send a question to the seller and ask where I can find it, but all I got was a response from Revain saying the seller hasn't responded and probably won't. I apologize for not receiving a photo or video but to be honest I figured I would probably break the item before it was successfully replaced. And (focus more on my frustration) I just didn't think about it at the time. I am writing down the steps I took as I remember them in the hope that it will save someone from the aggravation I was experiencing. I'm sure there is room for improvement, but let's get started. Remove the battery cover from the new device. Leaving the screw in place (I know it feels wrong!), turn the key (empty) to the open position. / extended position. Pry the device out of the open key slot on the side (I just used my fingers). As the top half begins to detach, the bottom half begins to detach with the battery holder. At this point separate the bottom end by sliding the slotted chrome base out the front of the case towards the exposed battery compartment (hope this makes sense). PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS STEP WILL NOT WORK ON THE ORIGINAL UNIT AND AT THE END OF THE WORK I JUST BROKE IT INTO PARTS, BE CAREFUL NOT TO DAMAGE THE TRANSMITTER BOARD. Loosen spring and guide washer. Since the key holder and knob assembly on the old block were damaged, I knocked out the roll pin and transferred the old (already cut) key to the holder (hinge) that came with the new block. I was able to reuse the roll pin from the new device. I haven't checked that the holder from the old block fits the new block, but they look the same. When you insert the transmitter board into the new case, there are two small pins that fit into holes in the board to hold it in place. There is a slot on the back of the case to insert the end of the spring that mates with the 90 degree end on the end of the spring. By inserting the end of the spring and holding the reassembled key holder/knob, the key can be turned a few times to tension the spring. Gently hold the key (locked position) while aligning the knob with the front of the case. After proper alignment, the two halves of the body can be joined together. Hold the case tops together and check the spring tension by pulling out on the key folding mechanism. If correct, reinsert the screw. The kit includes a sticker covering the screw hole. Hope this helps someone.
