Volvo XC90 2009 3.2L; 160,000 miles; A shrill, high-volume whistle began! Oh no! Pulled the dipstick and the noise stopped. Everything OK! Is this supposed to be a "simple" solution? To the right? Took the old one off by breaking the tabs with a small flat head screwdriver because I didn't want to spend any more time than absolutely necessary in 10 degree weather messing with the old brittle plastic! After properly orienting this new cap, tap it lightly with a rubber mallet until it snaps onto the old tabs. Took less than 10 minutes. Start the car and cheers, the noise is gone! Cleaned up the old part and yes, 30% of the rubber membrane had burst. So a $30 part and 10 minutes versus a $120 Volvo or a $75 Dorman and probably 3-4 hours to replace. whole oil pan! Good price!
