Super Loud Fan for Networking Products

I have had many computers (desktops, servers) and many switches over the years. It's usually the 1U server fans that you hear the loudest, but this switch gives them the edge of the money. It also comes with a powerful 1U server fan. A switch on the table was planned, but that's actually not possible given the volume of the fan. I'll buy and install a replacement fan, but I wouldn't advise anyone to buy one unless they're comfortable opening the switch and replacing the fan. UPDATE: I fixed the fan (replaced it with something quieter). I would like to warn everyone that this is not plug and play. Whichever malicious engineer decided the switch needed a jet engine with a noisy fan, he also decided the wiring pins didn't need to be standard. So if you plug in a standard 3 pin fan, it won't work, the switch will detect it and shut down. You need to buy a standard fan, swap two positions/pins of the wires (identify by the colors), THEN plug in, and then the switch is happy, the fan spins quietly. So if you want to go that route, be aware of the idea of cutting and rejoining the wires, ideally soldering if you want to get it right.

Pros
  • FLEXIBILITY OF INTEGRATION: The managed features of this 24-port switch include ACL, VLAN, IGMP snooping, QoS, RMON, SNMP trap and Syslog for monitoring and flexible network integration.
Cons
