Excellent material for insoles

I see that others had a similar purpose for this product, maybe my experience will be helpful. One of my feet has a C width and the other an A, so I buy a C for a wider foot and reduce the effective shoe width for an "A" foot with an insole. Depending on the last, the commercial insoles I tried were sometimes too thick, making the shoe feel too tight. So I came up with the idea of cutting this piece of leather into a thinner insole that was just the right thickness (2mm) and felt stiff enough not to wrinkle in use. Using commercially available insoles as a template, I traced the shape on the leather. When cutting, I made the insole a little more than the outline. I then put a new insole in the boot and found where it was too wide. Finally, I trimmed the insole and tried it on again until it was the right shape for this particular shoe. To cut the leather I first used an Xacto knife with a fresh blade. The result was a bit sloppy - it was difficult to follow the contour exactly. I then tried some sharpened heavy duty scissors to get the job done and found them much easier to manage. Anyway it worked! Lots of skin left. So I made extra insoles for other pairs of shoes. Now I can keep the insoles where they are and not have to change them when I change shoes.
