This leather was perfect for a project I was working on

This leather was perfect for a project I was working on. I'm new to leatherworking but from what I've read it's not bad if you're looking for raw leather to work with. Keep in mind that raw skin can vary in thickness, so you'll likely need to shave it down to the desired thickness with a scraper or something similar. Also, this isn't treated leather in any way, so it's rough and not smooth until you cover it in some way. Before purchasing this skin I would do some research and make sure it…

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Miscellaneous Other

These are very high quality leather items, much better than I expected for the price. No weird chemical smells or weird unknown dyes that bleed, just clear skin. Vegetable tanning is by far the best way to treat leather, especially when compared to today's harmful chemical methods that damage leather. Leather is a natural material and is ideal for people with allergies or sensitivities to synthetic materials such as neoprene. Leather is breathable and doesn't have that horrible "sneaker" smell…

Pros
  • This is great
Cons
  • Some flaws

Do not buy. not, but it feels like it). Processing skills are absolute rubbish. The grain side (the side you would sand and should be smooth) is very fuzzy, and the flesh side (the back of the leather) is so rough it feels like sandpaper. See attached photos. The first photo is the side of the grain you would edit or stamp, the side that would be visible. And yet it is too fuzzy. I've even tried shaving and buffing the nap which has worked on a few other brands but it hasn't helped its brand in

Pros
  • Thickness approx. 1 to 2 mm or 1/32 to 1/16 inch)
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Buyer Warning!

This is NOT as described. There's no excuse for calling this leather "medium". Bought to make scabbards. I haven't measured the thickness but it's probably 1mm. It wouldn't be safe to carry a fixed knife made of leather that thin. There were also marks on the leather that showed up when trying to work and then dye it. In addition, it will be tightly wrapped in paper with a label and sealed with tape. Therefore, it is impossible to get inside without tearing the packaging and thus making a…

Excellent material for insoles

I see that others had a similar purpose for this product, maybe my experience will be helpful. One of my feet has a C width and the other an A, so I buy a C for a wider foot and reduce the effective shoe width for an "A" foot with an insole. Depending on the last, the commercial insoles I tried were sometimes too thick, making the shoe feel too tight. So I came up with the idea of cutting this piece of leather into a thinner insole that was just the right thickness (2mm) and felt stiff enough…

Pros
  • Genuine cowhide leather, veg brown (NOT treated smooth side leather)
Cons
  • No instructions
