I don't know what's wrong with these filters. This is our fifth set of filters since we bought the fridge. I buy 2 filters. The filter that came with our fridge when we bought it has worked for 6 months as stated on the packaging. When I bought our first replacement, I did when home storage brought them in. They're no longer available, at least not in our area, so I've started ordering them direct from ge. The filters I got from a home store worked great. Same as the fridge. When it came time to use the next set direct from ge, I noticed a change. When I got the package in the mail and opened it, the little box with the filter felt damp so I opened it and saw that the entire filter was in the water. comes and goes from above. The top seal was present but felt anhydrous. I called, sat on hold for 40 minutes and called back until I got through to someone just to tell me it's ok because they test filters before they sell them. I was happy to believe it and after changing the filter I got on with my day. . Maybe after 2 1/2 months when the filter light came on. I should have checked when I bought it, I knew it was too soon. As soon as I realized we had been scammed I changed the filter again and called back to explain the problem to them. I was told that our water must be very poor here and that we may have used about 300 gallons of the limit set by the filters. I complained and told them we couldn't use it like we used to, so she said she would send me a replacement and return the old one in a box that I would have to get out of the trash. 😐 I've waited .and waited.2 weeks.3 weeks.4 weeks.6 no filter never arrived. I don't have time for these games just because of the fridge filter. I cut my losses and started ordering here. I thought it was kind of a racket they have. You can't buy these filters cheaper like any other generic brand or anywhere else. Also, once the filter light on my fridge comes on, it gives me a countdown to days it will expire, or how long it will expire. Well, I was starting to notice that the days are going by a little faster. Our light went on August 11th this month and today is August 24th and my fridge says 25 days over the limit. I know our water here isn't the best. But 2 to 4 months for a $50 filter is too much. You have to solve this problem when we are forced to buy these garbage filters.
