Review on Crux SWRFD-60L: Steering Wheel Control Retention for Ford, Lincoln & Mercury Vehicles (2004-2012) by James Lighting

The main wiring harness was ok. Good quality plugs and wires

The main wiring harness was fine. Good quality plug and cable. About 3 weeks after the initial installation, the subwoofer adapter failed, causing the subwoofer to hum loudly. I received a replacement unit about a month ago and it's been working fine so far. Then yesterday the CAN bus decoder started to play. All buttons on the steering wheel are perceived as vol+. I am requesting a 3rd decoder replacement kit but if that fails I will request a refund and get a different brand. I'm tired of taking my dashboard apart. In addition, the CAN bus decoder only has outputs for the steering wheel buttons. There is no door open signal, brake signal, reverse gear or vehicle speed signal. I called the manufacturer to find out exactly what the sub-adapter is supposed to do. It turns out that the factory amp is designed for a 5 volt switching signal instead of 12. So it's just a 12 volt to 5 volt converter. I cut it out and replaced it with a 12 volt to 5 volt adapter I bought at Revain for $7. The subwoofer output of your stereo system can be connected directly to the subwoofer using the factory wiring harness. I used the pigtail left over from the Crux adapter. I just bought a Pac-Can-Bus adapter to replace the Crux. The people I spoke to were very helpful and apologized. They said they were still under warranty and would be happy to replace it. Unfortunately, I don't think the fourth change will be any better.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled
