Review on πŸ” Enhanced Magnavox NB500MG1F Blu-ray Disc DVD Player with HDMI, 1080p Upconversion, and SD Card Slot by Jared Poinson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

GREAT VALUE FOR PRICE

I've been using this player for about a month (connected to a 1080p LCD TV via HDMI with audio playback through a 7.1 audiophile quality system) and so far it has worked flawlessly, both mechanically and electrically on discs including Blu-ray, standard DVDs, CDs and even homemade DVD-Rs. Blu-ray discs take a little longer to load than standard DVDs, but no longer than other modern Blu-ray players, which are significantly more expensive. The lack of the usual LED display on the front panel is more of a plus than a minus, and when needed, all the information is available where it should be: on the screen at the touch of a button on the remote control. The simple, no-frills design of this car is more European and quite attractive in my opinion. Particularly impressive were the Blu-ray discs with the films How the West Was Won (in smilebox format), Walt Disney's Sleeping Beauty. and the 1958 version of South Pacific, originally shot in high-definition film formats and with discrete 6- or 7-channel sound mixes, much more dynamic and complex than edgy, precariously lit images and compressed, homogenized digital sound mixes in contemporary movies. In my opinion, these films have never looked or sounded better on any previous home video release. I can't vouch for their durability with such short periods of use, but other Philips based DVD players I've had in the past have proven it. be strong enough The remote control is small but usable and quite well made, the functionality is no better and no worse than in more expensive players. The most important aspect of this player is that it delivers stunning Blu-ray pictures and sounds at a ridiculously low price and improves the look and feel of standard DVDs. Even if you use this player as a temporary player for a year or so until you can afford a more expensive car, it's still worth the price because you can later upgrade the Magnavox to a family or bedroom system. If you are not craving a feature-rich player (Netflix streaming, etc.), you may find that you will be more than satisfied with the picture and sound of this small player for a long time.
