I installed these brackets in an enclosed trailer to carry 4 bikes on a long trip. I wanted the brackets to be surface mounted so I didn't have to cut 8 holes in the trailer. Unfortunately, the V-shaped part of the tie where you attach the strap isn't very strong. Pulling sideways (rather than at the top of the V) will pull a bit out of the mounting plate as you snap the strap between the bike and the mount. If V were a closed piece of metal it would work better, but it doesn't work that way. So if you're looking to stick with 600-pound wheels despite the affordability, you'll be disappointed.
