The latch slips at the slightest pressure

Very high hopes were placed in this device. Looks great thanks to the solid aluminum body and laser engraved letters. Three levels of mind. The high fence hugs the edge of the road. Place it on the field, set the spirit level and read the degrees/incline. This part is amazing. The promise of setting the corner once and using it for repeating layouts is great too, except the lock doesn't hold the corner securely. Ideally we would fit it in and then use it as a saw guard. This doesn't work at all as the slightest pressure with the saw changes the angle. Then I tried to just mark the corner with a pencil. Even light pressure with the pencil will change the angle, so after four or five marks the angle will shift 5 degrees or more, even after I squeeze the lock as hard as I can. Very close, but just doesn't work for me. so have to go back.
