The Deco X60 can be easily configured when used as a LAN router. However, it will take a long time for the Deco X60 to work as a WiFi hotspot (connected to an existing router). One hurdle Deco has in AP mode is that the firmware doesn't disable Deco's internal DHCP server. As a result, it assigns its own IP addresses for a different subnet than the existing LAN. You can work around the problem by manually configuring each WiFi device that connects to it with a LAN IP address. In addition, some devices, such as B. Thermostats, no manual configuration as they rely solely on DHCP for their LAN address. Another hurdle is that the Deco X60 has a very limited website and the GUI only allows you to change a few things. You are forced to use the TP-Link Deco app for Android or iOS tablets and phones. The Deco app pales in comparison to the websites typically found on cheaper routers. The one area where the Deco webpage really excels in the app is the ability to update the X60's firmware with any available firmware. That was another hurdle to jump. The Deco app only downloads the latest firmware. Tip for anyone trying to use the Deco X60 as a wireless access point. Make sure DHCP snooping is disabled on the router (or if using a smart switch between the router and the Deco).
