Patons make quality yarns that die hard knitters know and love. I haven't bought them in years and almost forgot how good their wool yarn is. I was commissioned to knit some WW1 American Red Cross items for a presentation for a local history society and I wanted everything to be as authentic as possible, that is, using wool yarn that isn't superwashed. I even tracked down a pair of bone needles similar to those used 100 years ago. It turns out that the Canadian brand Patons was mentioned in many patterns of that time, so how could I be wrong? Not me. This is a beautiful yarn that is wonderful to work with - no knots, bumps or thin areas. All I found was a random spot where two lengths were tied together and that's easy to work with. It's hard to find a contemporary olive green these days, but this dark olive comes pretty close. And the price was right. It's always a bonus.
