Review on πŸŒ€ Cool Attic CX1500: Efficient Gable Mount Power Attic Ventilator with Powerful 2.6-Amp Motor and 14-Inch Blade by Julio Diaz

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Hopefully the motor will hold up over time otherwise a good cheap fan that does its job.

I have already installed several of them. This is a cheap and simple attic fan in design and quality. Without a doubt, this really lowers the temperature in the house and keeps the second floor cool. Presumably the benefit extends to extending the life of your roofing material. I understand the various criticisms of the warped case and missing parts (you only get four nuts and bolts to attach the clip to the metal case, you do the rest yourself). My advice: Do not buy a used or returned fan. I had a malfunction once with missing instructions, those four missing nuts and bolts and misaligned fan blades hitting four support legs etc. Had to go back and wasted time. The fan is not very quiet. The engine makes a humming noise that can't be ignored, but it's not too bad. The best noise minimization tip is to use rubber washers to isolate the fan from the board you are mounting it on. Rubber washers under the clamps, under the screws and washers that attach the board to the studs of the house. You will also need to use foam or rubber tape around the perimeter of the board where it meets the cleats. Finally, the price fluctuates depending on when you buy it. Buy at the best price in the off-season. This is a decent fan; It remains to be seen how the engine will hold up.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
