For some reason I thought I'd order the metal part of the upgrade. What came was plastic. I still don't understand why I thought I would order a metal upgrade? In any case, although this part is plastic, it is inexpensive and appears to be functionally identical to the OEM part. I give her good marks for that. UPDATE: I changed my rating from 5 stars to 1 star because this cap sucks! The pressure relief valve/basket assembly separated from the bonnet, creating an over-pressurization situation, causing oil to be expelled past the large o-ring. The engine was losing a quart of oil every 40 miles until I replaced that junk cover with a BMW OEM cover. Now you have to remove a huge oil spill in the engine compartment. Stick with the factory part - the additional price is worth it.
