They are suitable for skating without serious falls. Which works for me because I drive randomly. I like that they are unobtrusive. I don't look very stuffed when I drive and I like it. But if you're looking for something tough enough to survive stunts or bike crashes, I wouldn't recommend them. If you fall too hard they can tip over because the little straps that hold them won't keep them in place. I'm a fat woman and I bought a big one. They also sit great on thick legs. but the hand velcro on the wrist is too big and i just wrapped the strap in the thumb hole because it is too long. All in all, they serve their purpose, but I'm not 100% sure of the quality.
