Two widths to fit almost any jigsaw Perfect length without extension
I think the extension would make it more prone to breakage. I'm using bits from a more expensive kit that I bought before the blade broke (it still didn't fit my jigsaw). The threads are the same and the screw is about 1/8th thick to allow enough clearance so the bits don't hit the plate. My saw is a 10 year old corded Ryobi.
