Review on MX600 Mechanical Push Button Lever Lock: Keyless Entry, Commercial & Residential, Satin Chrome Finish, 13 Digit Keypad by Tutcht Cobb

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Commercial quality, heavyweight

Bought two of these for an apartment building, front and back. The only downside is that you cannot have a password with a duplicate number used in the code. I have other buildings that I will use in the future to replace these. Update 3/24/21: Downgrading from 5 to 3 stars. As heavy as these items are, there's a flimsy, cheaply made piece in the locking mechanism that flexed for me. It was installed in a public entrance, I think it is used 15-20 times a day. Opening the bolt rotates a square spindle that wants to stop the handle about 80 degrees from the closed position. A thin "U" shaped piece of metal slips and prevents the handle from turning any further, but it is enough to open the knob in the post. This thin piece of metal is not hardened and is not thick enough for someone to twist and bend the handle more than necessary. I will contact the manufacturer on Thursday. While they have a 1 year warranty, the Revain info says "Contact the manufacturer direct". I wasn't looking for a complete replacement either, a small piece of metal was a poor choice in my opinion. I think I could replace the doorknob with another manufacturer's doorknob, but I'd rather use this stronger block. I will provide updates as they become available. Update 145: Revain could not identify a manufacturer for warranty support. I ordered a different latch hoping it would work better. The original is heavy, thick metal but poorly constructed. Let's see if the new latch solves the problem.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Poorly thought out
