Review on πŸ“· Leofoto LEP-02: Revolutionary Panoramic Gimbal Head and Rotator for Ultimate Stability and Precision by Jamie Parker

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great for panoramas

I wanted more control and it looked good. I have several other Leofoto elements and I like them all. When tuning you have to be careful what you do, you can get it wrong just as easily as with all the panorama heads. I tightened the base of the rotator with the supplied Allen wrench. Not a big deal as the temperature change during shipping and the expansion of the metal in the aluminum can stretch the filament. This makes it a little easy to get started without worrying about thread damage in transit, which most people don't understand. After that it's great. Everything is closed. Everything is well adjusted and moving. The rotator has locking pins so you can turn your head, and it will let you know with a slight stop when you've reached your goal. Or you can slide the stops back and it spins freely. I was positively surprised. This is a really great setup for my Canon 5dsr with a battery grip, L lenses and a Kirk L mount. You need to watch some YouTube videos to learn how to set it up. Not entirely intuitive. But once you set up the nodes properly and use PTGui, you can get amazing panoramas. And with 5DSR, the HDR factor creates huge files with insane detail with 50MP shots, and large prints can be amazing. Although your computer can smoke. LOLI only has and uses a nodal rail setup. It only helps to make the movements a bit more precise in hopes of better detail.
