Review on Sony MDR-EX800ST In-Ear Headphones (Japan Import) - Enhanced SEO by Danese Chicagoland

Amazing and not fake

Okay first paragraph is rant. I didn't even want to do a review, but I had to after seeing some addicts say it was a "suspect fake". No it's not, do some research. EX800s have always been shipped in Japan in a sketchy white box. Look at the people who reviewed these IEMs over ten years ago. You'll see the same sketchy-looking white box from people who imported them to the US, or people who bought them and actually live in Japan. They don't sound "out of tune" or "not as good as my other pair of EX800s," that's nonsense. Who is going to make fake IEM pairs that are over ten years old and nobody cares? These are weird looking Sony IEM headphones that no one has heard of, and they have weird connectors that no one wants to make overpriced connectors for. No one has taken the time to create a perfect fake copy using the same connections and all. This is not fake. Nobody would fake her. Common sense. The whining is over. Okay, packaging sucks. Don't hide it. The IEM itself is good, although it looks a little quirky. It's plastic. The cable is junk. You should replace it with a nicer, heavier cable. The cable is so light and thin that it can become loose around your ear if you move around too much or tilt your head. These IEMs fit well in my ear with OEM or Spinfit ear tips. Haven't tried foam yet but I think it will be better. If you can't get them to seal, they won't sound as good as they should. You'll probably hate them and return them if that's the case. The soundstage on them is ridiculous. It has a pleasantly airy, almost three-dimensional feel, as if the music were all around you. Instruments and vocals sound good. There is nothing wrong with any frequencies. They have good bass, those big drivers move a lot of air. If you make a small mod where you take big air vents and poke them with a needle, the bass is absolutely ridiculous. If you want a lot of bass, get it here. Interestingly, it's not dirty bass and doesn't significantly alter the overall soundstage. Personally, I listen to them without a cassette. I love bass, but listening to it all the time was too much for me. It sounds amazing the way it is. They respond very well to EQ, if you like it I don't EQ them. It's just hard to describe how good they sound. They do everything very well, you can get sets that cost more but sound better, but there is absolutely nothing about their sound that could be called less than excellent. They have aged VERY well. You sound amazing to be honest. There aren't many new pairs that sound much better than these, even ones that cost a lot more. There are even fewer that have that much bass (if you seal the vents). I like how they look. I have no problem getting fit or getting a filling. I like the way they sound. If you're happy with the odd shape and want something with a huge soundstage that you can get lots of bass out of, buy it. Just note you may have a fitment issue, but if you do return them and get your money back. If like me you have a soft spot for all things Sony then DEFINITELY buy them, you won't regret it.
