I have used a homemade conical jig and found it a little unsafe so I bought a micro jig. The basic idea is reasonable enough, and the preset angle and drop-per-foot settings are accurate. However, *two* take-up sliders must be added to safely narrow the regular-length table legs. This greatly increases the cost of what is essentially a bunch of plastic that you have to assemble yourself. More seriously, the weakest link in assembly is the process of attaching the two handles to the cone mount. There are so many ways this can lead to errors or carelessness in the installation that installing it all becomes a time consuming task. Although I took great care in building and running the test piece, I still managed to screw up the table leg on my first real production run. So all in all, this is an expensive and shoddy device with too many bells and whistles that most of us won't use. They should have put their energies into solid design, not accessories.
