This is a very useful product, durable and well designed

This is a very useful product, durable and well designed. Like other micro jigs, they may seem a little pricey, but they get the job done. I wish they would sell the parts for the jig separately: I can already tell from experience that the little latch to pull the parts through the cut as well as the length of the base itself will eventually undercut and probably need replacing.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Well thought out, maybe too much?

Well built, well designed and very versatile, this cone is priced to match the build. However, this might be beyond what the average carpenter really needs if you just want to narrow down the table leg. An old-fashioned homemade V-clamp that only requires two sticks, a screw, and an adjustable cross will do the same. However, I had similar initial thoughts about the Micro-Jigs GRR rippers and now I can't work without them.

  • Confident

Two additional handles are required for safe use.

I bought this for making straight cuts in rough wood rather than double taping the ruler and using a stop. This setup is very sketchy, especially when the board is longer than the top of the saw. The two captures and associated costs need to be installed and the whole setup is still not that reliable. I'm not talking logs, I'm talking wood 1x8 2S. 4 or 5 feet long. I wouldn't buy this again. I like Gripper's product more than nothing, that's not one of them.

  • Durable Test Results

  • Safety

Great tool that made the project so much easier

This tool was instrumental in my latest project to narrow down 3" wood carving blanks for use as speaker stands. My blanks were 32 inches long and I think that's probably the maximum safe length it can be used for. I had to tighten it up a bit to support the weight of the work pieces (my table saw isn't too big so you don't have to worry with a big table. Great tool that made the project a lot easier and MUCH MUCH safer. It was quite expensive but I'm glad I bought it, without it I would have…

  • Excellent fit for me

Works well but must have at least one of their products GRIPPER

It didn't take long as the documentation is pretty clear with great photos. I previously bought their GRIPPER but I didn't really like it. However, in my opinion, this tapering tool will almost certainly require the use of at least one of their "grippers" to hold the wood in place while tapering. I reduced the 4 table legs from 1-1/2" to 1" and couldn't hold the wood securely in place without GRIPING them. The results of using this device are very pleasing. Therefore, I RECOMMEND this item…

Pros
  • Excellent construction
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Well designed and useful tool, incredible customer service.

A carefully designed and very versatile cone, especially if like me you already use Grrripper products. Also incredible customer service. As a woodworker, like many of us, I tried to work on the narrow leg design and managed to cut off the corner of the device. All my fault. So I emailed them asking them to buy another base piece, there was some sort of email error, and then they insisted on sending me a brand new clip for free. Wonderful. Warning. If using narrow legs, even at a 2º A angle…

Error Prone Best in Blades, Parts & Accessories

I have used a homemade conical jig and found it a little unsafe so I bought a micro jig. The basic idea is reasonable enough, and the preset angle and drop-per-foot settings are accurate. However, *two* take-up sliders must be added to safely narrow the regular-length table legs. This greatly increases the cost of what is essentially a bunch of plastic that you have to assemble yourself. More seriously, the weakest link in assembly is the process of attaching the two handles to the cone mount…
