Review on πŸ”Œ Amazon Basics 10 Port USB 2.0 Hub, 5-Pack: Efficient Connectivity Solution for Multiple Devices by Greg Mack

Revainrating 5 out of 5

This is a HUGE value if your needs don't exceed the capabilities of hubs.

Preliminary notes: (1) This is a USB 2.0 hub (as opposed to USB 3.0) but that is reflected in the price and USB 2.0 speeds are more than adequate for our use cases. (You probably do too, unless you need to connect a high-speed external SSD or hard drive over it. The external hard drive/high-speed SSD must have its own USB 3.0 connection anyway - sharing bandwidth across ANY hub is not pointless if there is no other option.) (2) All USB hubs share bandwidth with other devices connected through the hub. We use ours daily as charging stations for our portable devices, but they also work well as portable wired USB hubs. Five ports are provided for data transmission. Ports and offer the standard charging speed required by the USB 2.0 specification. The two ports are "fast charge" ports and can deliver significantly more charging current than a conventional charging port (1.6 amps in the case of my Note 3). The fast charging current is determined by the device to be charged and depends on the battery capacity and the state of charge. The two fast-charge ports are for charging only (no data transfer, at least on my computer). The device is both compact and "cute”. The wall wart is a typical size, about 2 inches wide, 3 inches high, and 1.5 inches deep, not counting the teeth.

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Damaged
