It works very well and works well (at least for my hermit crabs) because.1.It heats up the aquarium very well and keeps them warm in the winter season. 2. Retains heat well. 3. Fish or whatever you have can't get it if you don't have a heater on the tank, I recommend putting it under the tank so it heats the whole tank
