Review on ๐ŸŸก JSP Manufacturing 5 vented yellow fuel gas can jug cap by Matt Pavelko

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Not durable, so not a fan for a long time

Edit 09/23/2020 - Upgraded to 2 stars. Accidentally put 1 star. They have some utility, but you won't know where they work until you get them. Many vessels to be rebuilt have an increased thickness where the vent would have been if allowed at the time of production. This may interfere with (preventing) proper placement of the vent on 2 of my tanks. The little spaghetti strap that keeps the vent cover from moving is not strong and they came loose quickly. Vent caps do not stay closed and are often opened on gas cans when the pressure builds up on warmer Arizona days. Works better with cans of diesel fuel because the fuel vapor expands less. The best solution I've found are brass faucets, which are available from Revain for about $2.80 each at the time of writing. In my opinion, a brass faucet is the best solution in the long run. I stopped using those plastic vent plugs on the new rebuilds and switched to brass faucets. The installation instructions for these vent plugs say to drill a 31/64 inch (0.484 inch) hole. I measured the brass tap at the smallest part of the thread .52" and .54" below the hex nut with a digital caliper. In my opinion, this material may not be sufficient to convert this vent cap directly into a brass faucet in the same hole. However, with care, it can be made to work. I don't recommend them in the long term. As with any conversion of this nature, do so at your own risk.
