Review on πŸ’ͺ Amp up your Testing with the ESI 710 500 Amp Carbon Pile Load Tester by Myron Lovro

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The multi-scale ammeter is easy to use and perfect for my needs and budget.

Arrived well packaged and in excellent condition. All in good condition, no play. This particular model is better than some others I've seen due to the multiple scales on the ammeter. The ammeter has scales showing CCA and AH so there is no need to calculate "half CCA" or "3X AH". Easy to use and definitely perfect for my needs. For those who complain about the thin body material or cheap parts, buy a similar tester from Snap-On and pay for the quality. To increase the current draw during the stress test: As the pile of coal heats up, its resistance decreases, which (taking Ohm's law into account) increases the current draw. This is a perfectly normal reaction to heat and resistance (hence the test most likely only lasted 15 seconds to minimize this effect). Overcoming this would require a very large coal pile with a BIG surface area and possibly a fan. This would make this tester very expensive and large. So for the money. I'm sticking with it!

Pros
  • 15 second beep test
Cons
  • Not the best
