Works great so far, BUT the S-terminal cable is too short and not braided/shielded!

While I can't yet comment on the long term quality of the starter, it has worked exceptionally well for the last 3 days. That being said, I'm definitely disappointed that the S-terminal cable for my 2002 XTerra (3.3 SC) is significantly shorter than the Nissan OEM starter. This means the wire/harness cannot be routed as Nissan intended without MacGyver extending a mold or soldering your old starter wire to this new supposedly suitable starter motor. While I was eventually able to get the shorter cable working, I don't understand why the manufacturer saved pennies on a cable that was a small fraction of the total manufacturing cost. C'mon, is it really that hard to copy the length of an OEM wire harness? Another two centimeters and you have a starter that meets the specifications! The OEM part also has a dime plastic wire guard around the wire harness for protection. Why not at least use a braided cable? Because removing and reinstalling the starter motor was quite a hassle due to the close fit of the Nissan design and the fact that it took DB Electrical two weeks to ship the starter motor from its intended Tennessee manufacturing facility to South Carolina labor intensive work is from Minnesota) I will live with a NOT 100% SUITABLE DB Electrical starter and hope I don't have any wiring problems later if the vibrations damage the S-terminal harness. In the meantime, I can just disassemble and rebuild my old OEM starter; just in case and because it's fun to fix things that don't have to end up in our scrap yards.
