After I got this I smeared it thickly with cutting board oil, left it for 24 hours, wiped it down and then waxed it with food safe tree wax. . I do this with every wooden kitchen item I receive and I feel it makes it easier to clean and less likely to crack, chip or discolour. The storage slot allows me to just wipe it down with a damp cloth and then hang it on a small wall hook for neat storage and decorating at the same time. No fuss or frills here, just a simple tool with a simple, sturdy design that does its job exactly as it's supposed to.
