So these are probably great for most dogs and my two Bostons loved them. However, turned out my 17 lb boy was extremely sensitive to the hemp and he had a bad reaction that ended us up at the vet with a $1000 bill. The vet said that hemp/cbd toys can produce negative neurological effects in sensitive dogs which turns out our guy is. My older, bigger dog had no problem with it, but the younger one basically had what the vet called the equivalent of a "bad trip". Since these kinds of toys aren't regulated, you need to be careful if your dog has known sensitivities or any neurological issues. The normal wood was no issue.
