This strainer arrived today so this is a first review. I'm impressed with the size of this 5.5 inch mesh filter. It feels very much like a tool in your hand. The diameter of the round stainless steel shaft that forms the handle is 4.4mm. I put in some regular organic white quinoa and shook it for about five seconds and nothing landed on my clean kitchen countertop. Bravo! I took some photos and would like to add them to this review. The way the colander itself is held up by the flat steel that forms the rim looks very solid - much stronger than any household kitchen colander I've seen before. I can't comment on the quality of the welds that attach the grips to this rim without emphasizing the thing more than I'd like. Time will tell if these stitches will hold up or not. I'm assuming that will be the case based on the general appearance of the build quality, which I can tell by looking now.
