I wanted to love this shampoo because it doesn't use plastic and it's easy to carry. The rod is not as wide as a box and is in the shape of a teardrop, making it easy to hold. I didn't like the smell - I'm sensitive to smells. The rod is very solid in the hand. I thought it would foam better in my hand. I wet my hair in the shower, applied it to the roots of my hair and straightened it. I had to add more water to my hair to lather up where I wouldn't have to with bottled shampoo. The smell was a challenge for me. I washed my hair and didn't use conditioner (I usually use conditioner). It wasn't easy to comb my hair. When my hair was dry it looked pretty good and the scent was very mild. The next day I repeated everything, but this time I used my usual conditioner. The hair became easier to comb and became softer. I would take it with me on holiday because it's easy to pack, but I'm not sure I'll be using it regularly because I really don't like the smell when I shampoo. I really hoped I wouldn't need air conditioning.
