Slow and unpredictable

I recently built a gaming computer. Since a wired connection is no longer an option, I finally bought a WLAN adapter. I'm not looking for something that works incredible miracles. I just want a good wifi adapter that will at least give me a decent connection like my laptop does. (-2 stars for:) Unfortunately, I have to look around for another adapter because this one is absolutely miserable. First of all I would like to add that I have bought other ASUS products (including motherboard and monitor) and was really impressed with the quality and prices. However, this little guy was a big disappointment to me. The highest speed I got with this little guy is 95 Mbit/s (the connection speed was also tested on the SpeedTest network). It definitely beats my laptop's WiFi adapter, which gave me a max of 65Mbps. However, the Asus wireless adapter is very erratic, alternating between drastically slow speeds and much faster speeds. It will be at its maximum for a second and then drop to 5 Mbps for another second. That's something my laptop can't do. It took this little guy 3 minutes to download 129MB in one go. I don't mind that it didn't hit higher speeds, but the fact that it gets extremely slow really put me off. I need a reliable adapter, not this one. (-1 star for:) Another problem I had with this card was the installation. Even though I installed it on an Asus motherboard, it didn't fit perfectly in the PCI Express slot. The problem was that I couldn't connect this thin one without it pulling the plate inward against the table top and therefore not allowing me to screw and secure it to the table top. This isn't a problem in my case as every other PCI adapter I've installed is perfect. I had to remove the screws holding the card to the PCI card to attach it to the desktop computer case.
