TLDR; came back and left with a cheaper scanner.

Bought two scanners side by side for testing for documents/maps/books. These are IRISScan and TaoTronics scanners. Tested on two sheets of paper. One was printed as a negative with a black background and white text. Another regular one with a white background and black text. Settings for both - the minimum of what I need. 300 dpi, black and white, PDF. I didn't check other settings because a big problem prevented me from proceeding. IRIScan: The negative scanned well with deep black and crisp white text. Plain paper with black text scanned clearly, but the entire image had a slight tint. The white background was not brilliant white. TaoTronics: The negative scanned beautifully, with lighter blacks but still crisp white text. Well-scanned plain paper with a bright white background and crisp text. IRISCan became a breach of contract terms for them. As I will be using this scanner for different types of documents. It's fine for part of a map or book, but separate sheets. When I try to slide the scanner across the page, the edge of the page gets caught in the scanner leg. See attached picture. The leaf stops where the stem protrudes slightly. It messes up the whole view of the page. Even if you try to put a little more weight on the other side, some pages will hang or the scan will not come out properly. IRISCan is back. The TaoTronics is $50 cheaper at the time of this review and does its job well enough with no hiccups. A while. If there are more issues I will update this review.
