Review on πŸ”§ DEWALT 1/2-Inch Drive Breaker Bar - 23-Inch for Enhanced SEO by Eddie Duncan

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Build quality is no brand name

This DeWalt rupture bar isn't as strong as my old Craftsman shackle and the chrome comes right out of the packaging if you rub it with your finger. With a comparable price and a well known brand I thought it would be a worthy replacement for my now damaged Craftsman. After comparing the two, this DeWalt is used for lug nuts and other medium-duty work, but only with bare hands, not with a cheat whistle. Aside from the peeling chrome, the DeWalt appears to be well built, but there's nothing special about it. See images for comparison of peeling chrome and dimensions to Craftsman. Here's the backstory. Working with an 8 1/4 gear nut on the rear end, my Craftsman breaker was damaged when I used a pickup tube on it. I could feel the damage so I stopped before it broke, but the pin holding the 1/2 drive was bent so the drive was now difficult to turn (work was done with a much shorter but very strong Completed snap-on socket wrench, which found out that it was the case with Nut and the Cheat Whistle). I did not trade in my Craftsman for a free replacement as it still works and replacement parts are no longer made in the US. I was looking for a "valuable" budget replacement, not very cheap but not as expensive as truck tools. I thought this DeWalt would be perfect, especially as it's longer than the 18" Craftsman so might not even need a cheat tube, but that's a little disappointing.

Pros
  • Torque wrench
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
