never mind for optics

Was looking for a decent but small spotting scope that can see 0.22/0.223 holes on black targets at 100m and that fits in one case rather than separately in another bag must be packed. That's all. I have a newer version of the Vortex Razor HD 27-60x85 that I carry around when I'm "loaded" for multi-gun shooting and long range, but I need something small if I just want to travel light and lift a single rifle with ammo, scope and multiple targets in the same rifle case and I want to get rid of most of my "long range crap". I've tried several inexpensive monocular and spotting scope options ranging in price from $75 to $150. Not this particular scope's fault, but none of them met my needs for a variety of reasons (small eyepiece body, out of spec and typically nonexistent magnification, inappropriate upper magnification range for viewing fine detail, difficulty focusing, etc.). With this particular scope, the field of view was large, but the "quick focus" ring prevented me from focusing properly and my eye had to be in just the right place to see the bullet holes I was looking for. otherwise they would "disappear" in my destination if I move a little. This Roxant seemed able to do what I wanted, only up to its advertised 20-24x power, then it started to slip. However, I couldn't see clearly what I wanted on the black target. On white or shoot-and-see targets at 100 yards or maybe even 200 yards, quite adequate and probably the best option for the size and price. It wasn't enough for my specific needs. I've tried everything down to 20x monoculars and 36x micro spotting scopes (like this one) and it looks like I'll need something with much better glass ($200+) or whatever is actually on the advertised top-of-the-line has to focus 30x or higher or so, which is about where my Vortex Razor HD spotting scope can pick up .22 holes at 100 yards against a black background if the mirage isn't too bad. My long-term replacement straight-body Bushnell Sentry 18-36x spotting scope can still outperform any of these inexpensive scopes/monoculars I've tried, and I may have to fall back on that for now. Bigger and heavier than I wanted, but I just can't seem to find anything smaller that works. BTW, my old Japanese Bushnell 8x binoculars work just as well as most of those cheaper mono/spot binoculars. Ranges up to about 20x. Perhaps a 12x-15x version of the binoculars would be another option.
