Good if you set it up correctly

I hope this review helps you set up the DWL-G810 for your wireless network. It took me 5 hours of tearing my hair and scouring the internet before I finally figured out what it took to get this device working! Once I got it working it works really really well. I tested it on desktop and xBox360 and got full download speed on both. So how do you set it up? First, forget any encryption or authentication. WPA not working on DWL-G810 and after reading other reviews WEP not working! The only way to get this device to work on my wireless network is to set it up as an open system, hide the SSDI transmission, and use MAC IDs for security. First, temporarily configure your wireless router as an open system (no WEP or WPA). ) visible with SSDI and preferably with a low channel (I use channel 6 on my wireless router). The second step is to set up the DWL-G810. Setting up the device is easy. The guide shows how to temporarily set the network adapter of the PC or laptop you are using to set up the device to a similar IP address (I used 192.168.0.24). Leave most of the DWL-G810's default settings and use the Site Survey button to find and select your wireless network. After setting, turn off the PC/laptop and the DWL-G810. Connect the device that needs network access (PC or xBox) to the DWL-G810. Please note that any PC attempting to access the network through the DWL-G810 must have the wired network adapter's internet protocol configured to automatically obtain an IP address. Turn on PC/xBox and DWL-G810. The PC/xBox should be able to detect your wireless network. Once you're set up and up and running, you can focus on securing your wireless network. Most wireless routers have the ability to create a MacID list and only allow access to hardware that matches the addresses - basically, if you're not on the list, you can't get in! This is usually found in the advanced wireless settings. It is also recommended to hide the broadcast SSID (your WiFi name). You don't have to worry about entering the MacID of the DWL-G810, just register the MacID of the PC or xBox, which is required to access the network. The easiest way here is to monitor the logs of your wireless router (635) - when you connect and turn on your laptop or xBox, the logs should show that the mac address tried to access the network and access was denied became. You can also get the Mac address of your PC's Ethernet adapter by opening a CMD (DOS) window and typing "ipconfig /all". To find the Mac address of your xBox360 go to System Preferences/Network Settings/Network Setup/Advanced Settings/Advanced Settings. The Mac address is displayed in the lower left corner of the screen. When entering a Mac address, you can either enter it as one long address or separate pairs of numbers with a colon. After getting it working on the xBox I tried to connect a hub so the PC could be connected at the same time, no. Happiness! The DWL-G810 forwards incoming traffic to only one device at a time. The device that can receive incoming traffic is the one that last sent outgoing traffic through the DWL-G810. Hope that helps.
