UPDATE 0 The first one only lasted two hours when I adjusted the set screw it just hissed. The 2nd adjustment with a screw works fine but now my engine hums a bit, not bad but I can hear it. The first was absolutely silent until the hiss of the adjustment, but I still recommend these. Well, no matter how good a product is, it's bound to have some flaws. Firstly, people have told me I can't use this on a Holmes window fan. Well I'm glad they were wrong and I was right. This little baby works perfectly, no noise, no heat and looks good. I even checked my fan motor for temperature rise, you know what, no. And no weird motor noise like most other speed switches on the market. Simple and easy wiring. No adjustments were required when setting the speed screw stall. I think everyone I spoke to said I would only reduce the top speed to 70%, some said 50% speed. Well I can go as deep as I want with no side effects. Most importantly, being able to do this without any noise or heat issues is a huge bonus. Now my entry level Holmes fan with this controller is better than the most expensive so called adjustable fan. Can't say enough good things about this controller. If you're wondering if you should get this or something else, just get this.
