I am happy. I design things to 3D print, a lot of them like battery covers and various missing or broken parts. It sure makes my wife excited about the 3D printer if I can make a replacement part for her dishwasher (in PETG, not PLA) that costs $45 + shipping and 45 days wait. I use my calipers a lot. I have tried 2 battery operated devices in the last year. Batteries need to be changed very often, they are terribly sensitive to moisture and die early since I live in south Louisiana. Their accuracy and repeatability also left something to be desired. So they're solid stainless steel - I don't know if the sensor lens is glass or plastic, but the calipers themselves are stainless steel. It's very well made, moves easily and smoothly, and I get exactly the same dimensions on the parts 3 times in a row (my cheap Chinese digital device couldn't handle it and its poor accuracy was reflected when I printed out the first few sketches of the parts) . So yesterday I designed a battery cover replacement for my wife's kitchen scale. The rough piece I intended to use to test fit was PERFECT in terms of measurements. Remember that I'm not a machinist trying to calculate thousandths of a millimeter, I'm an engineer and an amateur who's quite happy with hundredths. The metric scale is at the top and the SAE scale is at the bottom, so you get both. The red indicator pointer corresponds to the metric scale and the black arrow corresponds to SAE. It comes in a nice, well-equipped hard case with foam interior for protection, and you'll never buy batteries again. That alone costs $35. Now I have a quality instrument that I use several times a day and no more batteries, no more inaccuracies due to bad design, bad construction (plastic parts, bad fit) and perfect measurement repeatability. I am delighted with this caliper.
