Review on 🖨️ 3D Printing Supplies: SainSmart TPU Filament 1 - Premium Additive Manufacturing Product by Tyler Cooley

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Certain quality control issues, but Sainsmart is trying to fix them.

Update 1. Sainsmart contacted me and offered to replace the damaged spools and try the filament again. I gave them my address etc but a month later no thread has come up so I'm keeping this rating at 1 star. If ever a new thread comes up and everything works I'll update this review. Update 2: Sainsmart sent the thread to the wrong address even after I sent the correct address. I finally got it two months later. Update 3: I have the option to use a TPU and unfortunately it still had the same quality issues I had before. Many hours of wasted prints. Also, the TPU was full of fresh moisture out of the box and needed to be dried in my dehydrator overnight before it could print properly. Update 4: Sainsmart sent me a new replacement again (again to the wrong address). This time from a different factory and in different roles. It looks suspiciously like the same buns Yoi used. I have high hopes for this one. I'm only increasing my rating to 2 stars because Sainsmart is obviously trying to get it right. When it works, it works well, but there are definitely some quality control issues. See attached picture. This blocked my extruder and caused my print to fail for 23 hours. (dissatisfied!). The thread diameter increases from an average of 1.69 mm to 2.5 mm in places. I saw it shrink to 1.6mm in diameter. Unfortunately I bought 5 rolls of this material for a large print job. There's a cheaper TPU filament that I haven't had any issues with (yoyi I think). Pros: Prints very well if you get a long enough roll of consistent diameter. I even got him to do a pretty decent jumper. The Bad Side: Diameter is everywhere. No consistency. The coil was wound poorly, causing the TPU to wrinkle a lot at the end. Good for a straight extruder, but death for a bowden extruder. Pressure Settings: Glass layer coated with PVA glue at 70°C ensures perfect adhesion. Nozzle at 230 for the first coat and then at 205°C for all subsequent coats (230°C is key for good adhesion to the coat and 205°C almost eliminates tension) Fluff the first coat, 100% for subsequent coats paintings. Excellent layer adhesion. Print speed 25 mm/s with direct drive extruder. Printing speed 20 mm/s with Bowden extruder. Sainsmart would have a good product if only they could get a constant diameter. This reel will definitely be returned for a refund. I have to use others because I need them right now. I've had a few rejections from other roles, but when you're in the middle of a big print job, you do what you have to do.
