The product had very small strips of sealant on either side of the seal but they weren't tacky so I added a small amount of liquid sealant to keep them in place while I all leveled ready for assembly. As always, you'll need to be careful with the gasket until you've properly fitted it as it feels a little flimsy, but that's not uncommon at this price point. The one I bought for my 2006 GSX-R600 fits perfectly and is holding up well. There are no signs of leakage around the perimeter, the case stays clean.
