I called Canon USA to check and after a quick check they confirmed that the lens is equipped with the latest firmware 1.0.1 and 1.1.3 on the body does not support all 65 AF points at F4 that the camera can afford. At F4 only 45 AF points are supported, of which only the middle group of 25 cross AF points and the outer 10 on each side are vertical or horizontal only. This is the main limitation of this lens. I also have a USM Nano 18-135mm and this lens has all 65 AF points active in cross mode with a 7DII body at F4. None of the reviews I saw online for this lens made any mention of it, and it's not mentioned in the camera or lens manuals. I still like this lens as it has decent image quality, very light weight, decent image quality, very effective image stabilization (I can capture up to 1/2 second at 55mm) and a very fast and quiet USM focus motor Nano Has.
